DESCRIPTION:The Peterborough Symphony Orchestra (PSO) is excited to kick off the 2025-2
 026 season with a concert filled with “Bright Lights.” The concert will fea
 ture the instantly recognizable Overture to the Barber of Seville, a comica
 l mini-masterpiece by Rossini and wraps up with Mozart’s final Symphony, no
 . 41 called “Jupiter.” The symphony perfectly joins the mind and the soul i
 n one of the greatest works ever written.  \nUnder the direction of Music D
 irector Michael Newnham, the orchestra will play Canadian composer, Dinuk W
 ijertane’s Concerto for Tabla and Orchestra. Guest artist Shawn Mativetsky 
 joins the PSO for the first time, having played this work under the baton o
 f the composer. The exciting new concerto will be the first time the orches
 tra will have featured a tabla. Wijertane’s clear, lucid and rhythmic style
  provides a perfect pairing to the Rossini and the Mozart.\nThe concert wil
 l be held at Showplace Performance Centre starting at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday
 , November 1st. Come early (6:45 p.m.) to listen to Maestro Newnham’s pre-c
 oncert talk. You will be entertained, and you may learn something new about
